COAL CITY- Things didn’t go the Lady Spartans way on Saturday during a double header at Independence High School.

They lost an offensive slugfest to the host Patriots 18-10 in their first game and then ran into a buzzsaw in game number two against the Logan Lady Wildcats and suffered a 15-3 defeat.

Despite the losses, there were some individual standouts on the day for Greenbrier East.

Lacy Patriacca has really turned on her hitting over the last couple of weeks and combined to go 3-7 with three doubles, a run scored and six RBI in the two contests. Paige Totten was 4-6 and, in the opener, Campbell Bundy and Haylee Heaster both hit impressive homeruns. Kennah Collins also had two hits in the opener and Adyson Donovan, typically a JV player went 1-1, stole a base, and scored two runs in the Logan game.

East moves to 11-8 on the season and will hit the road on Monday at Wyoming East and on Tuesday evening will host the Alleghany (VA) Cougars at Spartan Field.
