Joseph R. Preston
Joseph Raine Preston departed this life on August 12, 2026, the 37th anniversary of his marriage to Susan H. Preston (Harrington).
Joseph was born October 18, 1950 in Charlottesville, VA and grew up in Lewisburg, WV. He attended Greenbrier Military School, Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, Stanford University, and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University in New York, NY. He did postgraduate studies in history at West Virginia University at Morgantown.
Joseph was known for his kindness, his brilliance, and his love of West Virginia. He was a lifelong member of the Greenbrier Historical Society. He is survived by his wife; his brother, S. Mason Preston; his sister, Margaret Preston Kulkarni; and their children, respectively Andrew, Devin, and Alana and Srinivas, Shanti Margaret, and Krishna.
The memorial will take place at the Old Stone Church in Lewisburg on September 19th at 2:00 p.m. He will be interred in Roseville Cemetery.
