GREENBRIER CO., W.Va. (WVDN) — The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office has concluded an investigation into allegations involving the online solicitation of a juvenile male through electronic communications and online gaming platforms.
According to the investigation, the juvenile reportedly met Adam S. Hamm, of Summersville, at the West Virginia State Fair in 2025. Investigators learned that contact between the two allegedly continued through text messaging and online gaming communications following that encounter. The investigation revealed alleged discussions involving requests for photographs and offers of gaming-related items associated with the video game Fortnite, including V-Bucks and Battle Pass purchases. Investigators further alleged that Hamm expressed interest in meeting the juvenile in person this year at the West Virginia State Fair.
The investigation was conducted by Sgt. D.L. Vaught in coordination with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and remains active. Additional charges may be pursued pending further review of the evidence and consultation with the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the assistance of the West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Greenbrier Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, the West Virginia State Police and participating law enforcement partners whose collaboration was instrumental throughout the investigation.
Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney Nicole Campbell and Sheriff Bart Baker urge parents to closely monitor who their children are contacting on social media, gaming platforms or messaging apps. Child predators use these platforms to make contact and groom children. The best protection is prevention. Parents who believe their child is being targeted are urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.
