PRINCETON- The Greenbrier East Spartans put up a respectable battle for much of the night, but eventually fell to the Princeton Tigers 63-46 in the Region 3, Section 2 opening round matchup.
The Spartans trailed just 34-25 at halftime, but in the second half, the Tigers consistently held a 15–18-point lead.
The young Spartans had more downs than ups this season as they finish just 5-18, but losing only two seniors in Peyton DeHaven and Gabe Patton, the Spartans will return a plethora of experience next season. Both Patton and DeHaven were excellent senior leaders this year, and both will now move their focus to the Spartans baseball team which began tryouts this week. Patton is already committed to play baseball for West Virginia Wesleyan.
Patton led East with 11 points in his final game. Reed McCraw scored 10 points. Albritton Beasley and Nic Fleming both scored 19 points to lead the Tigers.
GE Individual Scoring: Patton 11, McCraw 10, DeHaven 8, Hamric 7, Dixon 6, Penn 2, Lambert 2
