MEADOW BRIDGE- According to USGS (United States Geological Survey), a minor earthquake occurred near Meadow Bridge, WV just before Halloween weekend.
The magnitude 2.3 earthquake struck a little over a mile northeast of Meadow Bridge, at a depth of about 9 km (around 5.5 miles) below the surface. The quake happened at 3:47 AM Thursday, October 29th, which means most folks wouldn’t have noticed, especially if they were sleeping.
Structural damages generally don’t occur with quakes this small on the scale, but depending on the composition of the local bedrock, some vibration (like a large truck passing by) could possibly be felt by residents if they were in the right place at the right time. Though not always felt, earthquakes below 2.5 on the Richter scale are always reported via local seismograph stations.
