Circle T Farm, located in Marie, West Virginia, is a family‑owned hobby farm that began in 2008 with the purchase of its first two Percheron mares—an opportunity made possible through the support of Sonny and Mary Cochran, along with the valuable guidance and encouragement of Richie Rodes and his family.
Circle T started with siblings Robbie and Stephanie and their parents Gene and Cindy, and has grown over the years to include their spouses, Ashley and Patrick, as well as Robbie’s daughters, McKinley and Jaycee.
For 19 years, Circle T Farm has proudly competed at the State Fair of West Virginia, taking part in a variety of draft horse events ranging from single cart classes to four‑horse hitches. While the thrill of competition is something the entire family enjoys, Circle T is especially proud of the many children they’ve mentored and introduced to the draft horse world. This year, alongside the Edwards Family Farm, six children ages 5–11 will be exhibiting draft horses throughout the week in different classes.
Watching the next generation grow—and knowing they’ve played even a small part in shaping a child’s life and instilling values not always found elsewhere—is one of the most meaningful rewards of life at Circle T Farm. They are equally grateful for their horses, whose steady, gentle nature allows young exhibitors to learn, make mistakes, and build confidence.
For Circle T, the State Fair of West Virginia is far more than a competition they shared with the West Virginia Daily News; it’s a celebration of family, friendship, and time spent with some of the very best people in the industry.
