LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall welcomed approximately 50 supporters on Sunday, March 29, for the official kick‑off of the Ivy Terrace Restoration Project, launching a major community effort to restore and revitalize one of Lewisburg’s most cherished outdoor arts spaces. Held in the Hamilton Auditorium, the event brought together donors, neighbors, and longtime fans of the Ivy Terrace Concert Series for an afternoon of connection, gratitude, and shared vision.
Guests enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres before hearing remarks from Cathy Rennard, President & CEO of Carnegie Hall; Sharon Rowe, Treasurer of the Carnegie Hall Board of Directors; and Tom White, President of the Carnegie Hall Foundation. Each speaker reflected on the Ivy Terrace’s long history as a gathering place for free community arts programming and emphasized the importance of preserving the space for future generations.
The highlight of the afternoon came when architect Tag Galyean unveiled the newly developed restoration plans. Galyean walked attendees through the proposed improvements, explaining how the project will enhance accessibility, safety, and long‑term sustainability while honoring the historic character of the Terrace.
Renderings and design concepts illustrate a renewed space that will better support concerts, community events, and the many informal moments of connection that make the Ivy Terrace a beloved local landmark.
CEO/President Cathy Rennard added that after the former “Ivy Terrace was destroyed last year in a plumbing mishap, it was important to us to invest the time to imagine what current needs should be addressed in the renovation.” “The accessibility and esthetic improvements will be significant.”
The strong turnout and enthusiastic response underscored the community’s deep affection for the Ivy Terrace and its commitment to ensuring that this treasured outdoor venue continues to serve as a vibrant hub for free arts programming. With the campaign now officially underway, Carnegie Hall moves forward with renewed momentum and gratitude for the supporters who are helping bring this vision to life.
