The Greenbrier East FFA Chapter has had an exciting and productive school year filled with hands-on learning, leadership development, and meaningful experiences in agriculture. From caring for livestock to earning prestigious awards, members have been actively engaged in building skills that will serve them both inside and outside the classroom.

The year began with students settling into new routines and responsibilities in their agricultural classes. The animal production program has been especially busy, with students caring for pigs, chickens, and goats. Members rotate daily responsibilities that include feeding, watering, cleaning pens, and monitoring animal health. These real-world experiences give students valuable insight into livestock management while teaching responsibility, teamwork, and attention to detail.

In early October, the chapter hosted its annual Homecoming tailgate, bringing members together to celebrate school spirit and fellowship. Students contributed food, played games, and enjoyed time together before the football game. Events like this help strengthen the sense of community that is central to FFA.

Throughout the year, students have participated in numerous educational opportunities beyond the classroom. Members attended the National FFA Convention, where they explored career pathways, attended leadership workshops, and connected with students from across the country who share a passion for agriculture. The experience provided inspiration and motivation as students returned home ready to apply what they learned.

Hands-on agricultural training has also remained a priority. Students participated in a Farm Safety Day at the Willow Bend Ag Innovation Center, where they learned essential safety practices such as ATV and tractor safety, general farm hazard awareness, and personal health protection. In addition, students took part in a veterinary-led livestock lab where they practiced skills such as administering vaccines, pregnancy checking, re-tagging animals, and maintaining proper records.

FFA members have also been active in developing leadership skills and preparing for future opportunities. Students have taken part in meetings, planning sessions, and chapter activities that emphasize responsibility, organization, and service. Many members are also preparing for upcoming events, competitions, and travel opportunities that will continue to expand their agricultural knowledge.

Celebrating Student Success and Awards

This year, Greenbrier East FFA members have been recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and dedication to agricultural excellence at both the state and national levels.

Keilei Christian achieved one of the highest honors in the organization by earning her American FFA Degree. This prestigious award recognizes years of commitment to agricultural education, leadership, and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) involvement.

Charles DePriest III, Morgan Massie, Alyssa Carpenter, and Ashton Hill each earned their State FFA Degrees, recognizing their growth in leadership, classroom instruction, and hands-on agricultural experience.

Heath Carola earned recognition in the Equine Proficiency area, demonstrating exceptional knowledge, record keeping, and hands-on experience in equine management. His work reflects a strong commitment to developing industry-ready skills.

Mya Monroy was recognized as a finalist in Prepared Public Speaking, showcasing her communication abilities and confidence while representing the chapter with professionalism and poise.

These achievements reflect the hard work, preparation, and leadership demonstrated by Greenbrier East FFA members. Their success highlights the chapter’s commitment to excellence and the impact of agricultural education in preparing students for the future.

Whether working in the barn, attending leadership events, competing in career development activities, or earning awards, Greenbrier East FFA members continue to demonstrate dedication and enthusiasm for agriculture. Their commitment to learning by doing reflects the FFA motto and highlights the chapter’s continued growth and success.

As the year progresses, the Greenbrier East FFA Chapter looks forward to even more opportunities to serve, learn, and lead—continuing a strong tradition of agricultural education and student achievement.
