Betty Yates Hughes, 84, of Frankford, WV, died Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA, after an extended illness.
Betty was born June 19, 1930, at Vago, WV, the daughter of the late Lee and Ada Boone Yates.
Betty was a member of the Emmanuel Open Bible Church. She worked for Burlington Industries, Hanover Shoes, and the forestry service.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Hughes in 1985; sisters, Annable Hughes, Ruth Yates, and Beatrice Yates; a brother, Eck Yates; nieces, Donna and Wanda Hughes; a grandnephew, James Perry; and her beloved dog, Ribbons.
She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Dotson and the Rev. Lula Collins of Frankford.
Having no children of her own, she helped raise her nieces and nephews, Mitch Hughes (Katheyn), Mark Hughes (Mickie), Linda Stacy (Tom), Mike Dotson, Alexix Gebron (Joesph), and Pam Clarkson (Calvin); grandnieces and grandnephews, Scott Huffman, Legend Huffman, Nikki Dotson, Travis Dotson, Tommi Stacy, Ashley Johnson, Jade Yates, Scarlette Clarkson, and Katie Hughes; and also three great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 2 PM at the Emmanuel Open Bible Church with Pastors Gary Devart and Everette Defibaugh and the Rev. Lula Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Lewis Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, November 24, at McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
