OAK HILL (WVDN) – It will be a Merry Christmas for the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans, as they go into their holiday break on a winning streak. After defeating St. Albans last Saturday, East went to Oak Hill and took care of the Red Devils 61-31 on Wednesday, Dec. 21, before they hit the road to South Carolina next week for the Low Country Invitational, where they will play three games in three days.

East led 16-11 after one quarter behind strong play from Kennedy Stewart and Ryan White. Taysia Gray got off to a good start for Oak Hill and had all 11 points for herself.

East (6-1) just continued pounding and grinding on the Red Devils’ heels. Cadence Stewart hit a long 3-pointer, Hannah Fuller hit a jumper and White put a layup up and in, and East held a 29-11 lead with just over a minute to play in the first half.

That lead extended to 33-11 at the break.

C. Stewart and Dotson combined to be thorns in the Oak Hill (2-4) sides in the third. After the third, East led 40-19.

Mackenna McClure hit a couple nice trifectas in the fourth, and with White on the bench needing just one point for a double-double, she checked in, scored a quick 2 and completed her task.

White finished with 11 points and 18 rebounds and was named player of the game. C. Stewart had 15 points and nine boards, and K. Stewart added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. Dotson had 11 points, four boards and three assists.

The Spartans will hit the court in South Carolina on Wednesday. The opponent and game time will be revealed soon.
