West Virginia State Police Investigate Burglary and Arrest Three Suspects

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WVDN) – On April 15, 2026, Senior Trooper M.S. Hall initiated a burglary investigation at Crooked Creek Road, in Logan, WV, after approximately $5,000 in U.S. currency, $12,000 in collectible coins, multiple credit cards, and the safe containing the items were reported stolen.

Through the course of the investigation, Senior Trooper Hall, with assistance from Senior Trooper D.A. Holt and Trooper A.M. Baria, identified three suspects connected to the burglary and subsequently arrested all three individuals.

Mr. Kory Browning, 33, of Logan, WV, and Mr. John Howell, 41, of West Logan, WV, were arrested on outstanding warrants for Grand Larceny and Conspiracy. Mr. Brian Phipps, 37, of Henlawson, WV, was arrested on outstanding warrants for Daytime Burglary, Grand Larceny, and Conspiracy.

Mr. Phipps and Mr. Howell were transported to Southwestern Regional Jail pending incarceration. Mr. Browning posted bond through Logan County Magistrate Court.

This investigation remains ongoing.
