GREENBRIER COUNTY (WVDN) – A Region 4 Planning and Development Council Brownfields presentation is set to be held via Zoom teleconference on Aug. 23.
To attend and participate, email Betsy Morris at bmorris@reg4wv.org or call 304-872-4970 x 313.
The online meeting should be similar to the one on Aug.15, where Morris did a presentation about what the Brownfields program entails followed by discussion with Potesta Rep. David Corsaro and Marlinton Mayor Sam Felton talking with Morris and John Tuggle of Region 4 Planning and Development Council.
The areas covered are five counties: Fayette, Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas, and Webster.
Potential sites can be former gas service stations, abandoned rail yards, mine scarred lands, landfills and other commercially used properties built prior to 1980 that potentially used asbestos materials.
Felton encouraged participation, stating, “Asbestos removal is costly and finding a contractor to do the work seems very difficult as well.”
