RUPERT- A bag reported missing from a Rupert porch was recovered after deputies traced it to another Church Street address, according to a criminal complaint.
Greenbrier County Cpl. K.L. Helmick and West Virginia State Police Sgt. Bostic responded Oct. 23 to a reported theft at 206 Church Street.
The homeowner, Randy Queen, told officers that camera footage showed Travis Wickline on the porch the previous night, going through a tote and taking a bag.
The footage showed a person wearing a brown flannel shirt and a two-tone hat, the complaint said. Helmick later located Wickline at 144 Cabell Street South, where he was wearing clothing that matched the video. Wickline reportedly directed officers to the bag at 186 Church Street. An occupant brought it outside, and Queen identified it as his and described the items inside.
The investigation also turned up two knives. Crystal Cannon told Helmick that Shannon Davis had said Wickline sold him the knives; Davis reportedly said they came from a camouflage hunting bag Wickline had taken. The value of the items was estimated at about $250, according to the complaint.
Wickline was arrested on allegations including theft, possession of stolen property, transferring stolen goods and possession of a controlled substance. During a search, Helmick said he found a piece of foil with burned residue that appeared consistent with illegal drug use.
These are allegations, and the charges have not yet been proven in court.
