RAINELLE- A Rainelle man is accused of breaking into the Meadow River Hardwood Lumber Co. office and taking computers and other equipment, including three handheld devices valued at about $5,000 each, according to a criminal complaint.
Greenbrier County Cpl. K.L. Helmick said he was dispatched to the business at 305 Snake Island Road around 5:50 a.m. Oct. 1 after a report that someone had entered the building and might still be inside. An employee told the deputy she saw a man take a computer bag and move toward a hallway. Investigators later reviewed security footage and identified the man as Thurmond Loudermilk, the complaint states. The footage appeared to show him carrying a bag and wearing a hoodie.
Later that morning, employees reported seeing Loudermilk in a nearby camper. He had left before deputies arrived, but Cpl. Rodriguez later apprehended him, according to the complaint.
Deputies said Loudermilk was wearing a hoodie employees reported missing from the office, and a pocketknife taken from the building was also found with him. A computer bag in the camper contained two laptops and three handheld devices, which employees said had been taken from the office.
The complaint says Loudermilk told investigators he took the items and was possibly going to sell them. He was taken to Southern Regional Jail.
