Clifton Forge, VA (WVDN) — Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Megbill “Bill” Khodhair as the new Program Head for the college’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, effective July 1. Khodhair succeeds Dorothy Hayslett, who is stepping down after years of foundational leadership.

Khodhair is a familiar face at MGCC, having served as a CDL Instructor and Lead Instructor since 2018. In his time with the college, he has been instrumental in training students to safely operate and inspect commercial vehicles, teaching Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and managing student progress. Before his time in higher education, Khodhair built extensive real-world experience as a professional driver and trainer with industry leaders, including Werner Enterprises, U.S. Xpress, and Garten Trucking.

“Bill brings a strong combination of instructional leadership, industry experience, and commitment to student success,” said Dr. Ben Worth, Vice President of Academic Affairs at MGCC. “His deep expertise in equipment safety, regulatory compliance, and driver training directly translates into high-quality instruction for our students.”

Honoring a Legacy of Leadership

As Khodhair steps into his new role, the college is also celebrating the outstanding service of outgoing leader Dorothy Hayslett. Her vision and dedication have been foundational in building the CDL program into the regional success story it is today. The Virginia Department of Education recently selected the Mountain Gateway Community College CDL program as the Zone 8 winner of the prestigious 2026 Postsecondary Exemplary Program award.

“Dorothy’s dedication, hard work, and vision have built the program into what it is today,” Dr. Worth noted. “While it is never easy to imagine the program without her leadership—indeed, she is truly irreplaceable—we are grateful that she is passing the program on to a seasoned and capable leader.”

Fueling Regional Growth

To support the program’s continued momentum, MGCC has also announced a strategic workforce expansion. The college will backfill Khodhair’s previous role with two new full-time positions:

  • A full-time position in Clifton Forge to support ongoing classroom and hands-on highway instruction.
  • A full-time position in Roanoke to spearhead the program’s expansion into new regional markets.

These investments reflect MGCC’s ongoing commitment to robust, localized workforce training and to meeting the growing demand for highly skilled commercial drivers across the region.
