FAIRLEA- It was extremely hard to even nominate players from the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans softball team with as many as six or seven deserving of the honor after the team averaged over 15 runs per game. However, after eventually narrowing it down to two, Lily Carola won the overall award as the West Virginia Daily News Diamond player of the week.
Carola had a big week at the plate and on the mound. She pitched 9.2 innings, gave up just 5 hits and 3 earned runs, and totaled 15 strikeouts.
On offense, the senior hit .666 with a home run. She also scored 8 runs, added a double, and drove in 5 runs.
