On Thursday, June 29, 2017, Hattie Mae Jackson, affectionately known as “Pete,” of Ronceverte, WV, peacefully passed away at her home. She was surrounded by loving family.
Hattie was born September 14, 1937, in Alderson, WV, to John Albert Marshall II and Mary Elizabeth Robinson.
She was employed as an LPN by Greenbrier Humana Hospital and The Brier. She loved fishing on the banks of the Greenbrier River and hunting ginseng with her sister, Eva.
In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by a beloved son, Timothy W. Cousins; her second husband, Robert A. Jackson; three brothers, Samuel and Edward Allen; four sisters, Annie, Betty, Virginia and Mary; and her fishing partner, John Marshall III.
Hattie leaves to cherish her memory three children, Gregory B. Cousins (Maricar) of Newport News, VA; Teresa Cousins (Brian Oaksford) of Durham, NC, and Elizabeth Jackson, also of Durham; a sister, Eva B. Smith of Lewisburg, WV; a brother, William Allen of Lexington, KY; her first husband, Walter B. Cousins of Newport News; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.
She reveled in being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Tanya Cannon of Roanoke, VA; Timothy Cousins II (Cindy) of Fussa Tokyo, Japan; Alexis Lawson, Nigel and Isaac Moore of Durham; Demetrius Cousins of Lewisburg; and Jaquan Carter of White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Hattie was also blessed to greet three great-grandchildren: Marcus Cannon of Roanoke; Riley Hall of Durham; and Emma Cousins of Fussa Tokyo, Japan.
The family will hold a memorial service on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Visitation begins at 12 PM, and the service begins at 1 PM.
