Hunter M. Lephew, 90, of Ronceverte, WV, died Friday, June 30, 2017, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born February 2, 1927, in White Sulphur Springs, WV, he was the son of Samuel Harrison and Lorena Hudson Lephew.
Hunter had been a member of Graystone Baptist Church since its founding. He was a logger in his early life and a farmer for over 50 years with Valley View Farms – his passion.
He loved working with horses. He loved to tell a good joke and laugh harder than anyone else at the punch line.
He was an avid Washington Redskins fan. He was a wonderful husband, father and provider.
Hunter was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Holcomb Lephew; a daughter, Bonnie Morgan; and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by a daughter, Evelyn Brown (Terry) of Frankford, WV; sons, Sammy Lephew of Ronceverte and Eddie Lephew (Joyce) of Mayodan, NC; a son-in-law, David A. Morgan of Ronceverte; a brother, Francis Lephew of North Carolina; one granddaughter; three great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special dog, Mac.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 1 PM at Graystone Baptist Church, with the Reverend Youel Altizer officiating. Burial will follow at McLean Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
