Gerald Maynard Weakley Sr., 67, of Alderson, WV, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
Born December 28, 1946, at Alderson, he was the son of Margie Johnson of Savoy, IL, and the late Edward Wilson Weakley.
Jerry served in the Vietnam War, where he received a Purple Heart and was a member of the Lewisburg Group #10 PTSD. He was a volunteer for the Alderson Fire and EMS Departments for over 20 years. In 2008, he was awarded Lifetime Membership. He played Santa Claus for several places. Jerry was a member of the Lewisburg Community Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Along with his mother, Margie, he is survived by his wife, Sharon Weakley of Alderson; his son, Gerald “Little Jerry” Weakley Jr. and wife, Michelle, their children, Morgan Tickle and Mason and Jaxon Weakley, all of Mechanicsville, MD; two stepsons, Javis and Cameron Brewster of Frankford, WV; a brother, Blaine Weakley and wife, Sheila, of Williamsburg, WV; two sisters, Donna Norton of Jacksonville, FL, and Elane Jones and husband, Bill, of Savoy; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 2:30 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at the Lewisburg Community Pentecostal Holiness Church on Brush Road with Pastor Everette Defibaugh officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
The family received friends from 1:30 PM until time of the service at the church on Sunday.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Lightner, Travis Copenhaver, Mike Vandall, Javis and Cameron Brewster, and Seth and Jeremiah Weakley.
