Robert “Bob” Vincent Conner, 59, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at a Pittsburgh, PA, hospital after a short illness.
Born December 21, 1954, he was a son of the late Leo and Lela Meador Conner.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of White Sulphur Springs. Robert was an Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an active member of the National Guard with 20 years of service with the Army Reserves. He was a proud veteran and citizen of our country. Robert had worked at the Veterans Hospital in Beckley, WV, and the Veterans Clinic at Lewisburg, WV. He also had worked at the White Sulphur Springs Family Care Center and the rescue squad. Robert as a kindhearted person who would come to anyone’s aid who was in need, and he loved people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Paul Conner and Thomas “Sonny” J. Conner.
Survivors include his wife at home, Melva Conner; stepson, Brennan Dolin of White Sulphur Springs; brothers, Edward Arnett Conner (JoAnn) of Flushing, MI,
Leonard Steven Conner of Alderson, WV, and Kenneth Charles Conner (Judy) of Mount Hope, WV; one sister, Maureen Light (Dave) of Las Vegas, NV; many beloved nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and special friends, Norma and Cassandra Honaker, Marie Plogger, and Oscar Morgan.
His funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 1 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop J.J. Troyer officiating.
Visitation will be from 11 AM until funeral time on Wednesday.
A private mausoleum interment service with military rites will be at a later date at Mapledale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to help with family medial expenses.
Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs is serving the family.
