Some debate exists whether credit for Mother’s Day should be given to West Virginia native Anna Jarvis … Plenty of stories document Jarvis’ campaign to establish a Mother’s Day celebration, giving her credit for its eventual national designation; however, few stories tell of Jarvis’ campaign later in life to separate herself from the celebration and abolish the holiday all together.
