Mary Elizabeth Rider, 94, of Neola, WV, passed away Sunday morning, April 27, 2014, at her home.
Born February 23, 1920, in Greenbrier County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Sona Belle Vance Waid.
She was a member of the May Chapel United Methodist Church at Neola and was a homemaker. Mrs. Rider enjoyed cooking for her family and others. She always wanted to make sure everyone had plenty to eat. She loved working with her flowers, painting crafts, and working crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Okey Summers Rider in 1991; a son, Sonny Rider; a granddaughter, Tammy Auricchio; and a grandson, Todd Rider.
Survivors include a special grandson and live-in caregiver, David Blake at home; two daughters, Louise Rider of White Sulphur Springs, WV, and Sally Kelly (Johnnie) of Sanford, NC; son, Maynard Okey Rider (Bonnie) of Neola; sisters, Mabel Lapastora of Newport News, VA, and Ruth Braden of White Sulphur Springs; brothers, Edgar Waid of White Sulphur Springs and Oliver Waid of Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two special caregivers, Edna and Hope.
Her memorial service will be conducted Friday, May 2, 2014, at 11 AM at the May Chapel United Methodist Church at Neola with the Rev. Lowell O’Dell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
