Teen dramatic pop vocalist and songwriter Lillie King will prove age is merely a number when she delivers an introspective and infectious self-titled EP with Mon Hill Records on Friday, Nov. 20. The 17-year-old does not shy away from powerful lyrics and spotlighting her skillful vocals on a project that runs in the same vein as Sara Bareillis or Lady Gaga’s Joanne.
The EP includes a total of six songs including her lead single “Red,” which is currently available to purchase or stream on Amazon, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify and YouTube.
The album is currently available for pre-save/pre-sale/pre-add at: Amazon Pre-order; Apple Music Preview; and Spotify pre-save.
“The most amazing thing about this project is that it’s a true reflection of a growing artist,” says Lillie. “The first complete songs I wrote are on this EP, which is something special. You get to hear my first try and the first thoughts that I wanted to put into music. You also get to hear music that was written much farther into my career; so, you really are watching a young artist mature and grow as a person — all in one EP.”
With a decade of theater already under her belt, King is ready to dive into her career as a professional singer and songwriter. Her ambition and passion have led to incredible opportunities including performing on the stages at Carnegie Hall and Greenbrier Valley Theatre, the state professional theatre of West Virginia.
After winning the 2019 “Talent West Virginia,” she was awarded a recording contract with Mon Hills Records that led to the creation of the current project. With its release, King will bring her unique and influential style to the music industry solidifying herself as the first lady-in-waiting for her spot at the top as her career and fan base simultaneously grow.
In an exclusive premiere of the lead single “Red” with Vents Magazine, King expanded on her feelings about the song, “I have always connected to ‘Red’ so strongly because there is one clear message — you messed up and I’m moving on without you. Need a breakup song? ‘Red.’ Need some motivation? ‘Red.’ Want to dance? ‘Red.’ It’s all in there, and this song will always be there for any mood you might be in.”
Lillie provided perspective on the musical impact she wanted to achieve with the EP in an interview with We Are Entertainment News saying, “When someone listens to my music, I want them to genuinely enjoy what they’re listening to. I want them to feel good about the music, enjoy the story, relax to the lyrics, or dance to the beat. I hope they feel the same connection when listening that I do when writing.”
She’s already receiving high praise from outlets including the review below when Out Now magazine selected King to rank among their list of “Your Next Favorite 10 Artists.”
“This lead track ‘Red’ from her forthcoming, self-titled EP, finds her landing a cheeky, clap-back lyric about a relationship’s breaking point positioned among supportive female backing vocals and a brass line that brings the fire of a lost love,” from Out Now magazine
