Each year, Family Refuge Center hosts its signature fundraising event, Women’s Night Out. Due to COVID-19, our event will appear much different this year than it has in years past.
Rather than Women’s Night Out, we are hosting Women’s Night In — a virtual three-part series that will include a game night, painting class and auction. These events will stream live on our Facebook page during the week of Nov. 30 – Dec. 4.
Family Refuge Center is a community-based, nonprofit organization committed to ending physical, emotional and sexual abuse. The organization serves victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, elder abuse, and human trafficking in Greenbrier, Mercer, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties.
Services include, but are not limited to, emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, court advocacy, hospital accompaniment, therapy, support group, and supervised visitation and exchanges. The Family Refuge Center also provide awareness, education, and training to youth and adults in our service area. Through the FRC’s direct and outreach services, we reached over 1,800 individuals last year. FRC could not have provided these vital services without the support of its communities.
The organization recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused much burden to so many people in its service area. At Family Refuge Center, the organization has witnessed an increase of domestic violence victims in need of services throughout the four counties it covers.
The organization’s staff has worked from home during the stay-at-home order; the center’s services never ceased. The FRC continued to provide assistance with Domestic Violence Protection Orders, crisis support, empowerment funds, emergency shelter and more. Paired with the increase in clients, the FRC is facing less funding due to the inability to fundraise recently, as well as the increased financial burden of many of the FRC’s community partners who often kindly support our efforts.
The FRC is asking for support in the form of sponsorships, donations of raffle and auction items, and gift bag purchases for Women’s Night In. Sponsorships begin at $300 and offer incentives including social media recognition and an item included in our gift bags to be provided by the sponsor for additional advertising. The center accepts donations of all values for raffle and auction items. This year, FRC is also selling gift bags for $50 each, which include a bottle of wine, wine glass, Family Refuge Center merchandise, sponsor-provided merchandise, and a raffle ticket that will give purchasers an opportunity to win prizes throughout our event week.
If you are interested in supporting Family Refuge Center this year, visit the center’s Facebook page, stop by one of our offices, or email Community Coordinator Jessica Bender at jessicab@familyrefugecenter.org. Be sure to also follow our Family Refuge Center and Women’s Night Out Facebook pages for more information and updates.
The center appreciates your time and consideration of donating to Family Refuge Center. Without the community’s assistance the Family Refuge Center would not be able to offer these vital services to those in need.
