BELLE (WVDN) – The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans’ first road trip went well, as they shot over 50% from the field and hit 17-of-26 threes, and when the clock struck zero, East won 82-46 over Riverside.
The Spartans were red hot from the outside and used their shooting prowess to put the Warriors (2-2) away relatively early.
East (3-0) hit five first quarter 3 pointers and led 23-14 after one.
And that would be as close as Riverside got all evening.
The Spartans used a 27-9, second-quarter advantage to build a 27-point lead at the break. Kennedy Stewart hit three 3-pointers, and her sister Cadence added another. Caroline Dotson added 2 more midway through the period, and Ryan White got one as well, as the Spartans cruised.
K. Stewart went 8-for-8 from deep for 24 points and notched four assists, three rebounds and three steals. The freshman is improving each game and settling in nicely. C. Stewart had a game high 28 points including 6-of-10 from distance. She also added eight rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Dotson had 14 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals.
The Spartans are back in action this Saturday night, Dec. 10, when they host John Marshall.
