PARKERSBURG (WVDN) – The WVSSAC has released the first set of playoff ratings for the 2022 season and several area teams are represented.
The ratings are released every Tuesday beginning with the third week of the regular season. The top 16 teams in each class advance to the playoffs beginning the weekend of November 11. The Super Six football championships are played in Wheeling on Dec. 2 and 3. The rating system assigns a base value to each team. Class 3A schools are worth 12 points, class 2A schools are worth nine points, and Class A teams are worth six points. A team earns base points for each win. Bonus points are awarded for every defeated team’s wins in their class or higher.
Greenbrier West is tied for ninth in Class A with the Cameron Dragons and Tucker County Mountain Lions.
The Cavaliers are 3-0 this season boasting three shutouts on their resume. Greenbrier West is the only team that hasn’t allowed a score in any class in 2022.
James Monroe is 12th in Class A with a 2-0 record. The Mavericks have only allowed six points on the season. Midland Trail is currently tied for 19th, Summers County 26th, and Meadow Bridge tied for 29th.
