GREENVILLE (WVDN) – Our Wonderful Land Earth Day Celebration will return for a second year at Old World Libations near Greenville on April 23. The Greenbrier Valley is invited to an afternoon of family friendly educational and fun activities and sessions.
“We are excited to continue this partnership with Monroe County organizations to bring an afternoon of fun learning opportunities for the young and old,” says Old World Libations’ April Ernst. “We decided to host this event after dinner table discussions with our local WVU Extension agent, Allison Tomlinson, about how much we take for granted as it relates to our world. There is so much to appreciate and learn about our planet.”
From 1-6 p.m., attendees can participate in interactive stations to learn more about bees, outdoor recreation, growing your own plants, and conservation. Additionally, Monroe resident and expert paleontologist Fred Ziegler will be available to share his fossil collection and look at fossils brought in by attendees. There will also be a wild edibles field walk and a presentation byon soil types and nutrient testing.
“We are excited to offer this free event for families and visitors to our region,” says Tomlinson. “Local makers and growers will be in our Vendor Village, Additionally, we have a sponsorship for free snacks to compliment the food and drink offerings provided by our hosts.” Sponsors include Friends of Monroe Inc., Monroe County Coalition for Children and Families, WVU Extension and Old World Libations.
