Charleston, (W.V.) – Corn for grain value of production totaled $29.55 million in 2021, an increase of 15 percent from $25.72 million in 2020. The marketing year average price received per bushel for corn was $5.40, up $0.70 per bushel from the 2020 average price of $4.70 per bushel.
The value of all hay production totaled $114.96 million in 2021, a 7 percent decrease from the 2020 value of $123.20 million. The average price received per ton was $129.00. This was up $10.00 per ton from the 2020 average price of $119.00 per ton.
The value of alfalfa hay production totaled $8.71 million in 2021, a 62 percent increase from the 2020 value of $5.38 million. The average price received per ton was $198.00. This was up $6.00 per ton from the 2020 average price of $192.00 per ton.
The value of all other hay production totaled $106.25 million in 2021, a 10 percent decrease from the 2020 value of $117.82 million. The average price received per ton was $125.00. This was up $8.00 per ton from the 2020 average price of $117.00 per ton.
