Please help us celebrate National FFA Week Feb. 19-25. This is a time when our members and community can recognize the impact that FFA has on our students and community. The 182 members of Greenbrier East FFA have planned a week full of activities which help students and the community understand how agriculture impacts all our lives. Below is a list of events both in our school and the community.
Feb. 20 – Members will meet at the school to decorate the hallways and agriculture classrooms
Feb. 21 – The FFA Petting Zoo will be held in the auxiliary gym and FFA members will discuss with all GEHS students the importance and impact of the animal production industry in our county, state and nation. They will also demonstrate small animal care and nutrition.
Feb. 22 & 24 – The Agricultural Olympics. These are fun team activity where students learn about different parts of the Ag. Industry. Games this year include corn hole, stick horse racing, baby bottle milk chugging, butter sculpture, and obstacle courses.
Feb. 23rd – Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day. We will serve all GEHS Staff Cherry Pie and Ice Cream to thank them for their continued support of our students. Why Cherry Pie? As the story goes, George Washington cut down a cherry tree. We celebrate National FFA Week the week of Washington’s birthday. He was an amazing agricultural producer and found out early on that accurate record keeping is important.
Feb 25th – FFA Tractorcade – Members with a driver’s license and community member who would like to participate will meet at the Lewisburg Walmart Parking lot at 8:00 am. We will travel with a police escort down 219 south to Greenbrier East High School. Drivers will remove any attachments from the tractors for safety purposes. The parade will leave Walmart about 8:30 am. We invite the public to line rt. 219 to help celebrate agriculture in Greenbrier County.
