FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. (WVDN) – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) traveled to Fayetteville, W.Va., to cut the ribbon on Hill Hall Hotel. This hotel is a part of a two-phase development by Mountain Shore Properties to repurpose two closed school buildings.

“It was great to be in Fayetteville to celebrate the grand opening of Hill Hall Hotel, an investment that represents a new chapter for Fayette County,” Senator Capito said. “I’m proud to see companies like Mountain Shore Properties continuing to invest in our state. I hope this area thrives for years to come and will provide a sense of hospitality for all who visit.”

“The dedication of the original 1923 Fayetteville High School building, built by Italian Stone Masons from Piedicavallo, Italy and repurposed into the 40 Room Hill Hall Hotel, could not have been possible without the work of so many to transform this historic building into a truly unique hotel that will benefit citizens of Fayette County and of West Virginia. It is a perfect example of a private sector entity, Mountain Shore Properties, working in collaboration with Senator Capito’s successful efforts to create the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. The guests who stay here will experience not only our small town hospitality, but will also enjoy our beautiful State and National Park; an experience that will be available for many, many generations to come,” Charlie Wendell, Founder and Chairman of Mountain Shore Properties, said.

In 2020, Senator Capito fought for the inclusion of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve Designation Act—legislation she authored that redesignated the New River Gorge National River as the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve—in the year-end legislative package. The legislation was signed into law on December 27, 2020. The legislation led Founder and Chairman of Mountain Shore Properties, Charlie Wendell, to invest in this new boutique hotel.
