BEAVER, W.Va. (WVDN) – The New River Community and Technical College Foundation has awarded 60 scholarships totaling $209,000 to 52 students for the 2026-2027 academic year, reaffirming its commitment to making higher education accessible and investing in the future of southern West Virginia.
Scholarship recipients were selected through a competitive review process conducted by three independent scholarship selection committees. Committee members carefully evaluated completed applications based on the criteria established by each scholarship donor, ensuring a fair and thoughtful selection process.
“Scholarships often make the difference between a student enrolling, persisting, and ultimately graduating,” said Dr. Bonny Ball Copenhaver, President of New River Community and Technical College. “We are incredibly grateful to the many individuals, families, businesses, and organizations whose generosity continues to create opportunities for our students while strengthening the workforce and communities we proudly serve.”
The scholarships support students pursuing a wide variety of academic and workforce programs across the College. By reducing financial barriers, these awards enable students to focus on achieving their educational goals while preparing for meaningful careers throughout the region.

The New River Community and Technical College Foundation currently administers more than 100 scholarship funds established by generous individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. Through careful stewardship and continued philanthropic support, the Foundation has expanded its ability to provide life-changing educational opportunities for New River students year after year.
Students interested in scholarship opportunities are encouraged to complete the Foundation Scholarship Application each spring. A single application allows students to be considered for numerous scholarship opportunities for which they qualify.
