WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS- The NFL’s New York Giants have enjoyed their stay in the Mountain State for their training camp at the Greenbrier courtesy of the Sports Performance Center.
Coach John Harbaugh called Greenbrier County “a beautiful setting” while starting left tackle Andrew Thomas said the place was “amazing” and he could not believe how many fans turned out to see day two of practice. Quarterback Jaxson Dart said in his press conference after the first day that he loved the place, loved the outdoors, and felt right at home.
Another player, safety Jevon Holland, said he loved the trees and the scenery, but he has heard stories about the Appalachian Mountains and refuses to leave the resort after dark. The Greenbrier–and the county as a whole–continues to make lasting impressions on people who spend the majority of their time in big cities and in front of national cameras. Standing on the field at the practice facility does display some great views that overlooks the trees and mountains as seen below.
The Giants have also used their time here to improve their football team. Coach Harbaugh has seen improvement every day and star wide receiver Malik Nabers seems close to returning to full strength after hitting the practice field the last several days. Nabers, a third-year player from LSU, is coming off a torn ACL that limited him to just four games a year ago, one year after a rookie season where he had 109 receptions, 1,204 yards, and seven TDs.
Someone Harbaugh is excited about is second year rush linebacker Abdul Carter. Once he gets his consistency at a high level, Harbaugh thinks the sky is the limit for the Penn State graduate.
On Saturday, August 1, the Greenbrier East and Greenbrier West football players and coaches made their way to practice for a glimpse of the Giants and some autograph sessions. Both high school programs also received $5,000 dollar donations from the organization, an extraordinary gesture from the NFL franchise.
If you have been to the training camp to catch a glimpse of the NFL team right in our backyard, you’re possibly witnessing a playoff team if the roster can stay healthy throughout 2026.
