With Labor Day fast approaching, it is important to know what will and will not be closed to plan your day accordingly. Here is some information on what will be closed over the holiday.
All federal services such as the United States Postal Service will be closed and mail will not run on Labor Day. This means all local post offices will be closed. In addition, most banks, including the Bank of Monroe in Lewisburg will be closed in observance of the holiday.
Municipal services such as city halls, including Lewisburg City Hall and Marlinton Town Hall, will be closed on Sept. 6 as well. Many municipalities, such as the town of Marlinton are also postponing trash pick up for that day. For Marlinton customers, pick up for Monday, Sept. 6 is moved to Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Other services such as the Greenbrier County Landfill and the Greenbrier County Recycling Center will be closed on Labor Day.
Also, offices for most utilities such as water and sewer will not be open on Sept. 6 due to the holiday. Whereas many cell phone providers such as US Cellular stores will be open but operating under “holiday hours.” For the US Cellular store in Lewisburg, the holiday hours are from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Generally speaking, restaurants and chain stores will remain open over the holiday. This includes stores such as Walmart.
