Alan Keith Smothers

Alan Keith Smothers, 74, passed away peacefully June 16, 2026, at Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength and cherished memories. Born on June 3, 1952, Alan lived in several different states throughout his life’s journey, but always held a deep affection for the hills of West Virginia, where he chose to spend his later years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Odis and Ida Laura Smothers.

Surviving and deeply cherishing his memory is his devoted daughter, Laura Snyder, of Shady Spring, WV, who will forever carry his love in her heart.

The family extends a heartfelt, special thanks to Alan’s sweet and caring friends, Dan and Pat Withrow, for their unwavering support and companionship over the years.

In accordance with Alan’s explicit wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. His life will be celebrated privately at a later date by those who knew and loved him best.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alan’s honor to HospiceCare, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901, as a thank you for their comfort and support.

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
