CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Today, Senator Jim Justice released a statement applauding the official groundbreaking ceremony of Frontieras North America’s first U.S. FASForm facility in Point Pleasant, West Virginia:

“From the very beginning, my partnership with Fronterias has been built on a fundamental truth: coal is the bedrock of West Virginia and the backbone of American energy. When I was Governor, we laid the groundwork that has led us to where we are today. Now, in Mason County, we are seeing that vision take flight. Fronterias is a key player in strengthening our economy, creating jobs for our folks, and continuing to move the needle on American energy independence. I’m especially proud of how far we’ve come, and I look forward to continuing to work with Fronterias for years to come,” said Senator Jim Justice.

“When Jim Justice was Governor of West Virginia, he put his name behind Frontieras publicly. He told the world that West Virginia’s coal industry was not dying. It was evolving. Today, on 183 acres in Mason County with steel and concrete about to go vertical, we can say he was right. Senator Justice was one of the first political leaders in this country to support our project. He did it when coal was under siege. He did it when the federal government was actively trying to kill this industry. That took conviction. Not every leader was willing to stand behind a coal reformation company during those years. He was. Now he sits on the Senate Energy Committee, where he fights every day for policies that let companies like ours build, hire, and produce. He knows what coal means to West Virginia. He was raised in it. He built businesses in it. And he is using his seat in the United States Senate to make sure this industry has a future. Today’s groundbreaking is proof that early political support can turn into real economic results. Senator Justice backed us when it counted, and Frontieras will remember that for as long as this facility stands,” said Matthew McKean, CEO, Frontieras North America.

BACKGROUND:

  • Frontieras North America is expected to create more than 200 high-paying permanent jobs and over 2,000 construction jobs during buildout for West Virginians.
  • Senator Justice has been a longtime advocate for energy independence and sits on the Energy Committee in the US Senate.
    • He has worked alongside President Trump to help make America energy dominant once again.
  • While Governor, Frontieras first announced a major investment with Frontieras North America in partnership with the Justice Administration.
