Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia State Senator Tom Takubo filed today that to seek re-election to the West Virginia Senate, representing District 17, which covers most of Kanawha County. Senator Takubo has launched his re-election campaign for another term with a continued focus on affordability, jobs, economic growth, access to affordable healthcare, education, and fiscal responsibility.
“Serving the people of District 17 has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Takubo said. “Over the past several years, we’ve made real progress, but there is more to do — and I’m ready to keep working to move West Virginia forward.”
A practicing physician and lifelong advocate for healthcare improvement, Takubo has brought firsthand experience to legislative efforts aimed at expanding access to care. He has also been a vocal supporter of workforce training, small and large business development, and investment in infrastructure. Under his conservative leadership as State Senate Majority Leader, West Virginia had the largest tax cut in state history, the largest private job creators’ investments and funding for both public schools as well as school choice.
“I’m running for re-election because I believe in our people and our potential,” Takubo said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished — and more determined than ever to keep fighting for the future our families deserve.”
Dr. Tom Takubo has represented West Virginia Senate District 17 since 2014. He is a physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine and currently serves as Executive Vice President of Provider Relations at WVU Health System. A father of three, he lives in Charleston with his wife, Tori.
