I would like to remind you that the Public Service Commission of West Virginia has added an important new milestone to our website, which is found at www.psc.state.wv.us.

This is a list of agencies and places a utility customer may go if they need help with paying utility bills.

This listing is called the “utility assistance directory.” And it is found on the middle right-hand side of our webpage.

If you click on the highlighted area, it will take you to a multi-page listing of agencies and locations where a customer can get help.

Included are the agency name and website, if one is available.

The listing includes a telephone number and address, and specific counties served, where that is a factor.

We decided to gather this information in a central location to simplify the search for people in need.

We are aware that utility bills can be a concern and that they necessarily fluctuate depending on the weather.

We hope this centralized listing might aid some of you who may need some help from time to time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the utilities and the state agency who helped put this listing together, particularly Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power, Hope Gas, Monongahela Power, and The Potomac Edison Company, Mountaineer Gas, West Virginia-American Water, and the West Virginia Department of Human Services.

We would like this site to be a growing location to which assistance groups can voluntarily add their access information, if they would like.

Anyone interested in being added to the list should contact our Communications Division at (304) 340-0820 to have their information included.

To expand our outreach, we have activated our social media site.

Those of you who would like to follow our posts can follow the Public Service Commission of West Virginia on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/PublicServiceCommissionofWV or follow our Instagram page @PSCofWV.

We encourage you to do so.

Our social media presence is in its infancy, but we hope to expand it as we develop the process further.

These items I am discussing with you are part of the Commission’s ongoing effort to be accessible and informative to the public.

Our website continues to have a number of nice features to allow you to follow what is going on in the Commission.

We encourage you to look at what we have and follow us in the future.

This page is available to subscribers. Click here to sign in or get access.
