Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) – A lifelong West Virginian, Dr. Steven Eshenaur has officially filed his candidacy for the West Virginia State Senate, District 8.

“I have dedicated my life to public service—starting my career as a combat doc in the military, completing 4 tours and retiring as a US Army Colonel, and today I serve as a public health officer and small business owner,” said Eshenaur.

Eshenaur brings an extensive background in the clinical and administrative field of medicine, both in the private and public sector.

“I see so many opportunities where we can do better for our health care system, improving infrastructure, and attracting more job opportunities for our children to have a strong and bright future,” said Eshenaur, “I have a different perspective that I can lend not only from the clinical field but also as a small business owner.”

Eshenaur currently serves as the Executive Director/Health Officer at the Kanawha Charleston Health Department and member of the West Virginia Public Health Advisory Committee. His background includes working as an emergency physician and ER Medical Director. Dr. Eshenaur received his medical degree from the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine and an MBA from West Virginia University. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
