Petersburg, W.Va. (WVDN) – Former member of the WV House of Delegates, Marc Harman, officially filed as a candidate for a seat in the WV State Senate in the 14th District which covers Grant, Hardy, Mineral, Preston, Tucker and part of Taylor county.
“I am excited to run for State Senate in District 14 and bring my background and experience to represent our side of the mountains to bring jobs and make our area strong and healthier,” said Harman.
While in the House, Harman was credited with being the lead sponsor on the Resolution, which led to the impeachment of the then WV State Treasurer after catastrophic losses of over $300 million in the state’s investment fund. The impeachment resulted in investment laws and rules being strengthened to provide protection for the investment accounts. He was also a leader in agricultural issues, especially in the poultry industry and in economic development. Harman co-sponsored the Warehouse Freeport Amendment to the WV Constitution, which was ultimately adopted by the voters and became an important economic development tool. Harman also championed Open Meeting Legislation for transparency in government on behalf of the Press Association.
“I have dedicated my career to support our local industries, bring transparency in our government and apply common sense solutions to every challenge we have faced,” said Harman, “I have advocated for senior centers, rural healthcare and our poultry farmers – all areas that still need proper leadership to help us right here at home.”
Marc Harman and his wife, Diane, have been married 29 years and are the parents of five children and ten grandchildren. They live in Petersburg, where they enjoy cheering on the Mountaineers and outdoor adventures in the mountains of WV.
