FAIRLEA- (8) Greenbrier East plays (9) Chapmanville in a home state playoff game this Friday night at 7:00 PM and the buzz around the community is real.

Chapmanville brings a perfect 10-0 record into Fairlea, and the Spartans are hoping that their tougher schedule and playing at home will help them ultimately prevail into the elite eight.

Spartan head coach Ray Lee spoke briefly about some key topics prior to the matchup.

On the attitude and atmosphere around the team with a home playoff game on deck:

Lee: “They’re excited to achieve the preseason goal they set as a team and that was to make the playoffs. Now that we’re here, they are looking forward to playing a really good football game.”

On the health of star running back AJ Godfrey:

Lee: As of right now (Monday), he is going out to practice this week to see how he feels. He seems to be ready to go.”

On what he and his staff have learned about Chapmanville:

Lee: “We’ve traded film, they’re a really good football team with some good-looking players that get after it and plays well in all positions.”

On whether this season has met or exceeded expectations so far:

Lee: “Anytime you have more wins than losses that’s a good season. We still have some other goals we’re wanting to accomplish.”

On the practice approach this week:

Lee: “Being totally prepared mentally and making sure we’re ready and prepared to play mistake free football.”

Fans are encouraged to come out Friday night, bundle up, and pack the stands.
