WHO: (13) Greenbrier West at (4) Pendleton County

WHEN: Friday night, November 14 at 7:00 PM

WHERE: Slusher Field in Franklin, WV

The Greenbrier West Cavaliers hope their difficult schedule and all the challenges they faced all year will provide them with the confidence they will need when they travel to Franklin this Friday to face the Wildcats of Pendleton County.

The Cavaliers won their final game of the 2025 regular season over no. 16 Gilmer County, 55-6, and did so in impressive fashion.

Quarterback Colton Dunbar ran for 137 yards on just four carries and included in that yardage total was an 88-yard scamper for a score.

Greenbrier West also welcomed back sophomore running back Ben Butler with open arms. Butler had been injured since early in the season and came back in full force. His first two carries went for touchdowns, and he finished with 105 yards on just seven carries.

For the game, the Cavs (4-6) ran for over 400 yards and this Friday, when they open up state playoff play, they are going to need more of the same against a team who can score the football as good as any Class A team in West Virginia.

What to Know About Pendleton County:

When researching Pendleton County (8-2), two words come to mind.

Colton. Roberson.

Roberson is the Wildcats quarterback on offense and the numbers he has put up this season are not just impressive, but also alarming.

Just a sophomore, Roberson has completed 124-of-214 passes for 2,403 yards with 28 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He has also run for 950 yards and 19 more scores. So, Roberson has had a hand in 47 touchdowns this season and defenses can’t focus on stopping him in only one way.

His favorite target is another fellow 10th grader, Travis Owens. Owens has caught 55 passes for 1,045 yards, and 14 TDs. Senior Chase Owens–unsure of relation, but likely– has hauled in 50 passes for 784 yards and five scores. Finally, Britton Lough has 24 receptions, 526 yards, and six scores.

Defensively, Pendleton County is led by none other than Roberson again. He is one of those do-it-all-type players and leads the Wildcats with 116 tackles and eight tackles for loss. He also has three interceptions on the year. Spencer Hartman is second on the team in tackles with 86 and Ch. Owens is third on the team with 79 tackles and 7.5 behind the line.

Team Numbers for the Wildcats:

The Wildcats average 43.8 points per game. However, they do allow their opponents to score 27.2.

In games played at Slusher Field, the Wildcats average 49.4 points per contest.

The only common opponent between West and Pendleton is Pocahontas County. The Wildcats beat Pocahontas 61-28 and Greenbrier West defeated them 16-14.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM this Friday night.
