FAIRLEA- The WVSSAC all-state soccer teams were released on Monday evening and to say the Greenbrier East Spartans were well represented would be the understatement of the year.

The Spartan boys placed five players on all-state teams and also had their head coach Lucas Lemine selected as the Region III coach of the year.

Dubya Vickers, Andrew Holt, and Nathan “Nacho” Pack were named to the Class AAA first team while Mason Pyne and August Vincent earned second team honors.

On the girl’s side, the Lady Spartans cleaned up with five selections as well and also had Avery Thompson win the Region III player of the year, and like Lemine, girls head coach Mike Dotson was selected as the Region III coach of the year.

Thompson (defender) and Ava Workman (forward) got picked for the first team and their teammates Kennedy Stewart, Rylee Wickline, and Lyla Brown secured spots on the second team.

Both the Spartan boys’ and girls’ seasons ended last Thursday in Beckley at the state tournament, but judging by the sheer number of all-state selections, it is easy to see why both programs had extraordinary years and how well thought of they are amongst their peers.
