MAXWELTON W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on November 2, around 5:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched by Greenbrier County 911 to a call in the vicinity of the Maxwelton marathon gas station. The call came in for a domestic-type situation. The officer was reportedly told that the sister of the victim had called and said her sister was being hurt by her husband at the Maxwelton Marathon gas station.

As the officer was traveling to the gas station, he was told the couple was in a white SUV and they had left the store. The officer was also informed that the female was homeless and living out of her car and would often park around the storage units located behind the bowling alley in Lewisburg.

Not long after this, another officer reportedly advised that he was out with a white SUV in the vicinity of the storage units behind the bowling alley.

The complaint states that the first officer arrived on scene and saw the second officer telling a male to get out of the vehicle. The male was detained, and the female was then told to exit the vehicle.

Allegedly, the victim said that the male, identified as Alphrin Arnett Norman, hit her in the SUV while on the way to the gas station. When they got to the gas station, Norman reportedly went to use the restroom, and the victim went into the pizza part of the facility to sneak into the bathroom to call her sister. Norman then forced the victim to leave with him and go to the storage units where they were found, according to the criminal complaint.

A written statement was taken from the victim, and a Greenbrier County Domestic violence attachment form was reviewed and signed by her also.

The victim allegedly showed the officer where her hand was swollen from being hit, and her right breast also reportedly had a bruise from being hit a couple of days before.

Norman was placed under arrest and put in the officer’s department-issued cruiser.  He was then transported to the Lewisburg detachment of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department for processing. The officer also had Greenbrier County 911 call the sister to have her come and give a statement.

When the sister arrived at the Lewisburg office, she gave a written statement. According to the complaint, she said that while she was at work, her sister called and said her husband was hitting on her, for her to please call 911. The sister reportedly tried to call back, but the phone was dead, so she called and requested that the police go check on her sister. Norman was processed and taken to the Greenbrier County Magistrate’s court for arraignment.

At the time of publishing, Norman is in Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $30,000.
