ORGAN CAVE W.Va. (WVDN) — At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 24, Joe Thomas, Chief of the Lewisburg Fire Department, stated he dispatched a tanker truck to a structure fire at the Organ Cave Aviagen Turkey Farm site 10.

A representative for Aviagen, Eric Hagedon, told the West Virginia Daily News, “The building is a total loss,” but added that “no one was injured” in the blaze. However, declined to provide additional information on whether any turkeys were in the barn.

The West Virginia Daily News also spoke with the Ronceverte Fire Department Chief, Gary Austin, who reported that the fire was “fully engulfed” and the structure was “on the ground when they arrived.”

There were no injuries, and they were assisted by “Lewisburg, Fairlea, Tri-County, and Union Fire Department crews.”

The fire marshal has been called and is expected to be on scene today for further investigation.

The West Virginia Daily News will provide updates as information becomes available.
