LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The Lewisburg House and Garden Club attended the Fall Meeting of the Greenbrier District, West Virginia Garden Clubs, on October 15. It was held in Lewisburg at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. The following clubs were in attendance: Old White Garden Club from White Sulphur Springs; Savannah Garden Club, Lewisburg House and Garden Club, Greenbrier Gardeners, The Bluebell Garden Club from Lewisburg; Meadow River Garden Club from Rainelle, and The Bluefield Garden Club and The East River Mountain Garden Club from Bluefield.

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the introduction of the officers at the head table. The business meeting was held in addition to the roll call of the clubs, along with a report from each club about their activities in the past year. President Pam Simien addressed the group about what goals she has set for WV garden clubs this coming year. Luncheon was served, and tickets were drawn for the door prizes which were lovely baskets filled with treats and gardening items. Each club provided a basket.

Six members of the Lewisburg House and Garden Club attended the meeting. Those in attendance were Carol Olson, Judy Deegans, Lynn Weikel, Ghee Gossard, Sue McKinney and President Marit Withrow. Lewisburg House and Garden Club president, Marit Withrow, introduced the guest speaker, George Piasecki, who spoke to the group about the invasive Spotted lanternfly.

The attendees were encouraged to pick up a map of Lewisburg along with brochures and to go out and explore the town.
