CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – Annette Fetty-Santilli of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Community Partner for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), was one of the top three fundraisers at the annual Pittsburgh PurpleStride: the Walk to End Pancreatic Cancer on Saturday, April 25. She raised over $14,000 as captain of Team West Virginia for the event. This is the third year that Annette was among the Top three fundraisers, and the Top 3 fundraisers raised over $64,000 for the cause.
The Pittsburgh PurpleStride is one of the nation’s Top 10 PurpleStrides in the country, and raised nearly $500,000. Team West Virginia finished as the Number 6 among all participating teams.
On Saturday, April 25, there were 60 PurpleStrides all over the nation with over 63,000 people participating. Two PurpleStrides, Los Angeles and Washington, DC, raised over $1,000,000 each.
Annette has been volunteering for PanCAN since her 38-year-old brother passed away from pancreatic cancer. In 2016, she was named the 2016 National PanCAN Community Advocate of the Year, and she served on the National Volunteer Advisory Council.
After PurpleStride Pittsburgh, Annette said, “I received the medal, but it just doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to all those who have had pancreatic cancer and their loved ones. Unfortunately, more and more people are diagnosed with this horrible cancer, and we all need to work together to help end this beast. Even though it poured the rain, there was absolutely no place I would rather have been.”
