English Country Dance (ECD) is starting up again on Friday, June 11 from 7-9 p.m. at St. James Episcopal church on Court Street in Lewisburg. ECD is similar to contra dance and shares some figures with square dancing. There are no fancy steps. Couples dance various figures with a brisk walking step set to beautiful music. (What better way to get some mental and physical exercise.)

ECD has a long tradition dating back to the 1600s. Dances from these early years are still danced today although many modern dances and music have also been choreographed and composed.

Beginners are welcome. We will be starting with simple dances. Come single or together. Wear comfortable shoes. The cost is a donation ($5) to the church for using the space and utilities
