Fayetteville, W.Va. (WVDN) – Bud’s Recycling Co-op will soon be offering the city’s first curbside recycling pick-ups. Co-founders Erin Collins, Chris Sefkin, and Daniel Love are inviting the community to a free grand opening celebration at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Fayette County Courthouse.

Starting January 24, Bud’s Recycling Co-op team will be picking up weekly curbside recycling, including unsorted recyclables and uncrushed cans at both homes and businesses. Plans are to expand to glass and compost pickup in the future.

Collins said co-op members sign up for a monthly service, and her company will pick up unsorted recyclables and uncrushed cans directly from the curbside each week. Founding Co-op Members who sign up before January 17 will receive two weeks of service free (January 24 and 31).

Sefkin, Collins and Love were motivated to start the business because they wanted to offer neighbors a sustainable solution while fostering a sense of community and environmental responsibility.

Devon Fitzgerald, Regional Business Advisor at the West Virginia Hive is assisting the co-owners of Bud’s Recycling Co-op. Collins said, “The WV Hive has been instrumental in helping us connect with community members and identify potential funding opportunities to support and expand our services.  We are excited to bring curbside recycling to Fayetteville with the hope it inspires more sustainable practices in our community.”

Fitzgerald congratulated the owners of Bud’s Recycling for making a positive impact in Fayetteville. “It’s great to have the opportunity to work with a business that prioritizes environmental responsibility and sustainability,”
