Final touches are being put on the building that will house Greenbrier Valley’s newest industry — Mountain State Poultry, Inc., on the Greenbrier River, two miles south of Ronceverte.
Free turkeys and chickens will be among the prizes to be given to those who attend the open house.

Miss Jean Bowling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bowling, made her first solo flight from the Greenbrier Airport in a Piper Cub Trainer.
Mr. Tate, flying instructor, is quoted as saying that excellent progress has been made by Miss Bowling.

Three juveniles entered Hamood’s Grocery Store on Mountain Avenue last Saturday night taking three cartons of beer.
They were arrested and tried Tuesday before Justice of the Peace Sidebottom.

Virgil “Bones” Dent, manager of Page’s Diner in White Sulphur Springs, now has a ‘dent’ in the family wardrobe to the tune of $250 worth of clothing, which was stolen from his car last Saturday night when it was parked behind the diner.
It is understood that Bones went on a shopping trip to Charleston a few days later to replenish his wardrobe.

Frank Wickline, past president of the White Sulphur Lions Club, was unanimously elected chairman of the board of directors of the White Sulphur Library and Community House Association.

Continuing on the road to victory after his surprise victories in the Charleston tournament of the Golden Gloves, where he was crowned lightweight Golden Gloves champion of West Virginia, Ronald DePriest, the secret weapon from White Sulphur Springs, proved that his victory for the Golden Gloves title was not luck.

Miss Janice Foster won first place in the oratorical contest sponsored by the American Legion at White Sulphur High School. Second place was awarded to Bertye Carol Robertson.
Miss Foster will go to Lewisburg to compete in the regional contest.

For geographical reasons, White Sulphur Springs has been selected by the Air Corps for a ground observers post. This will be manned by volunteers; that is if a significant number of citizens in the community are interested.

To provide more and better service to farmers and rural communities served by the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company of West Virginia during 1952, 3,325 poles, 1,394 miles of wire, and numerous items of central office equipment were placed in service.
In addition, much progress was made in reducing the number of customers per line during the year with the objective in view of not more than eight per line.

Harry J. Welsh, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Welsh of White Sulphur Springs, was crowned 1953 Sweetheart’s Beau of Morehead State College in Kentucky.

Dr. and Mrs. Jennings Whitten moved into their new home in Huddleston Heights last week. The cottage vacated on Mountain Avenue was leased by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hedrick.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kipps moved into the house near the fish hatchery that was vacated by the Hedricks.
