Hey, hey! I am so glad you decided to join me today and I have an easy venison meal for you that I’m sure will please your family, and is a great weeknight dinner option. So, pour yourself something good to drink and grab the scissors because you are going to want to cut this one out.
I don’t really have a name for this meal other than delish! This meal contains onions, peppers, and venison in a creamy gravy over egg noodles. Do I have your attention now? Haha! Good — let’s get started!
For this meal you will need:
• 2 large onions
• 2 large green bell peppers
• 2 small venison roasts (about 2-2.5 pounds each)
• Two packs of dry onion soup mix
• 2 small cans of cream of mushroom soup
• ½ cup water or milk
• 1 stick of butter
• Garlic powder
• Egg noodles
• Salt and pepper
Slice the onions and peppers and place one sliced onion and one sliced green pepper in the bottom of a crockpot. Then place the two small venison roasts on top of the peppers and onions and put the other sliced pepper and onion on top of the roasts. Slice the stick of butter into small sections and put around your roasts and peppers.
Now put on a pot of water to boil. In a separate bowl, mix the soup mix and cream of mushroom soup with your water or milk and garlic powder. Pour the mixture on top of everything, put the lid on and walk away! Cook on low for six hours. Once the water comes to a boil, put in the egg noodles and cook according to the package directions — I think it’s like seven minutes.
When the six hours is up remove the roasts and put them in a bowl, shred them and return to the creamy gravy with onions and peppers. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve the roast and onions and peppers over the egg noodles and voila — you have dinner!
Don’t be afraid to make this your own by omitting the peppers and adding peas and mushrooms or maybe omit the noodles and serve over mashed or roasted potatoes or roasted root vegetables. This dish would even be great served over rice, lentils or quinoa.
However you make it, make it your own and as always, I am sending love from my kitchen to yours.
